On the Implementation of the Program
Peacebuilding requires "peacebuilders" who are willing to contribute to peacebuilding activities. In order to build peace, it is crucial to identify people who can have a sense of fulfillment by contributing to peace. Peacebuilding could involve hard work with great difficulties, which may call for an exceptional ability and a strong will. If so, it is important for "peacebuilders" to have friends for mutual encouragement. We wish to create a community of "peacebuilders" across Japan, other Asian countries and the rest of the world. This program is being implemented based on such a vision.

“Be a Peacebuilder”
In order to break the cycle of violence, it is necessary to create a new method that overcomes violence. For this reason, peacebuilders need to give their imaginations full rein. Imagination comes into existence not from nothing but from a combination of various knowledge and experiences one has gained through life.
I sincerely hope that those who are passionate about peacebuilding will find it worth devoting their whole lives to. And I also hope that they will develop exceptional capabilities and establish ways of thinking detached from self-interest, so that they, as peacebuilders, will be able to gain people’s trust in conflict areas. With these hopes I continue to take part in this Program.
Chie Fuji
Manager for Administrative Affairs, HPC; Secretary-General of Peacebuilders
I have been involved in the implementation of the Program since the Pilot Program in the Fiscal Year 2007. I recommend the Program for Human Resource Development very strongly because of its excellent lectures and workshops on topics ranging from the founding of the Program to aftercare for the participants year by year . We are very thankful to the independent and highly motivated participants who attended and cooperated in the implementation of the Program. HPC moves, worries, speakes, and grows with the participants as an organization of peacebuilders.
Naoya Hirano
Course Mentor and Program Coordinator for Human Resource Database
I am HPC Course Mentor, who looks after Program Associates during the Coursework in Japan, the HPC Roster System manager and an editor-in-chief of newsletters for the HPC Program Associates. My role is to make sure that HPC Program Associates can belong to the HPC community through the Coursework, the Roster System, etc. I am glad if my work contributes to developing the network of peacebuilders.
Miki Takeuchi
Assistant Accountant
The Coursework by HPC can improve knowledge and business abilities for people who want to be involved in the peacebuilding field. It would be great if you would like to join the Program.
Sae Imamura
Program Coordinator for PA Assistance and General Affairs
In the last year I supported Program Associates (PAs) by providing various services during the Coursework including planning events on weekends in order to make the Coursework in Hiroshima more convenient for them. Both in and outside the training room, I learned quite a lot from such highly motivated and intellectual PAs. I am sure that this stimulating environment also provided a big asset for their own brilliant future.
Koji Demizu
Program Coordinator for Training and Event Management
Having participated in various professional conferences outside of Japan where peacebuilding experts gathered from around the world to discuss how to promote civilian peacebuilding activities last year, I felt that this Program played a great role in this area. In addition, I realized that the international community, strongly desiring to develop more human resources in the peacebuilding field from Japan and other Asian countries, was paying great attention to HPC.
Jeon Hyeonjeong
Program Coordinator for PAs / Graduates Affairs
Manpower and integrated functions of different sectors comprise the golden key in peacebuilding activities. Are you ready to build equity in this global village with people who share the same values as you? Make your dreams come true with the HPC network, and contribute to others’ dreams coming true too!
Daisuke Goto
Public Relations Officer
I began working for HPC this year. The peacebuilding field requires human resources from inside and outside Japan. Would you come and join us to make an international contribution to peacebuilding?
