HPC is now accepting applications for Asian Participants     Application Closed!


HPC has started to accept application for Asian participants to "the Program for Human Resource Development in Asia for Peacebuilding" commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) in JFY 2010.
The Program in JFY 2010 provides the following two courses for Asian participants: Primary Course and Civilian Experts Course.
We will hold an information session of the Program on October 7 at the United Nations University Building in Tokyo (15:00~17:00) with simultaneous translation into English for non-Japanese speakers.



◆[Overview of the Application Guidelines]

1. Primary Course
The Primary Course is designed to provide practical knowledge and skills related to peacebuilding through the Coursework and, if applicable, the Overseas Attachment.
The Course consists of "the Coursework in Japan" in Tokyo and Hiroshima from 31 January 2011 (approximately 6 weeks). A few Asian participants may be allowed to join "the Overseas Attachment" as UNV volunteers at field offices of international organization engaged in peacebuilding, after "the Coursework in Japan" (maximum of 6 months), if they pass the screening of UNV.
The Course expects 15 Japanese participants and another 15 participants from other Asian countries.

2. Civilian Experts Course
The Civilian Experts Course is designed for civilian experts who will practically engage in peacekeeping/peacebuilding in the future to acquire practical expertise required in the field of peacekeeping/peacebuilding. The Course consists of "the Coursework" in Tokyo from January 2011 (approximately 2 weeks) and expects 10 Japanese participants and another 10 participants from Asian countries.

*Those from the following Asian countries are able to apply for this Program: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Timor-Leste, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, Laos, Malaysia, Mongol, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.

[Privilege to the participants]
The participants who complete either the Primary Course or the Civilian Experts Course are entitled to the privilege that the completion of the HPC courses can also be regarded as the completion of "Classroom Instruction" which is one of the requirements for the "Certificate-of-Training in Peace Support Operations programme" offered by the Peace Operations Training Institute(POTI), a US-based institute. Please take it into consideration about application for our Program.
